Breaking
Breaking-When a wave passes from deep water to shallow water it steepens as the wave energy is forced upward. We call this "shoaling". With increasing steepness, the wave face finally becomes too unstable and the crest or top part of the wave tumbles or "breaks" down the face of the wave.
Broken up A surf condition in which waves approach the beach and break apart into different peaks/lines with a clear separation between the ridable shoulders. This is usually caused by two swells from different directions and or periods overlapping the same break. Also called "scattered peaks".
Bro A buddy or friend...or used as a greeting. Example: "Howzit Bro?" Synonym: Brah, Brahdeen.
Brodad Surfer or Hodad wanna-be surfer who overuses Bro or Brah.
Broder Reference to a male surfer. Nowadays nearly everyone in Latin America uses this for everybody.
Broladex Where a guy keeps all his bro's phone numbers. A Boladex is a cell phone - derived from Roladex.
Brosef A higher rank than brah; like a best friend if you will, or just a mad cool dude that you have a lot of respect for.
Bruddah Used by surfers when describing fellow surfers. Also a greeting and synonymous with Bro. Not gender specific...may be used to greet Wahines.
Bubbles A beach bunny that's a total ditz. Example: "Yo brah, that beach bunny was so bubbles!"
Bucket A helmet that's used when surfing over shallow reef or rocks.
Buckle

Bummed
Disappointed, mad about things not going your way.
Bummer
Something that's an all around downer; precursor to bummed.
Bump
Euphemism for a swell. Often used to describe what's coming on the horizon.
Bumps
Build-up of wax on a surfboard deck.
Bumpy
Bumps on the ocean surface created by wind, usually between 6-10 knots in velocity. Definitely not clean but not choppy or blown out either.
Buoy
A floating object moored to the bottom of the ocean to mark a channel, anchor, shoal, rock, etc. Buoys with sensitive meteorological and oceanographic instruments are also moored in deep-water locations to measure wind, weather, and wave information. This information is used to help forecasters monitor the progress of swells as they pass the buoy location.
Burn
To take off past a grommet or someone on a wave. Similar to snake, but without a drop-in or a slash cutback in front.
Burnin' House When the shoulder end opening of a tube closes and traps the rider inside the barrel as the wave shuts down. Example: "You Bra; you got caught in that burnin' house."
Busted
To be caught in the act of something devious or subversive.
Butt Breach
When you first surface after having been worked by a bomb that caused you to lose your bathing suit bottom/board shorts.
